Asheville, NC - Aug 20, 2010

Time to hit the road. A guy has to do what a guy has to do. We're headed for Asheville and have a really hard day of driving. (52 miles)

I never tire of this scenery.

We found this really great little cafe for lunch. Little is the operative word. Four tables big!!

No menus, just a board.

This little guy was standing right next to George.

Time for the town tour. No houses this time though.

See how they serve people in Asheville? Outside the window and ----

in the alley.
Then there's the underground eating places.

Ashevilles's city offices. Wait til you see what we saw there!!!

In typical Janet fashion, the head was cut off. She's really cute.

Both front and back.

Houses overlooking the city.

Didn't know so many places had these kind of monuments.
The estate is so large that they have to have this huge building full of people to handle everything.
Interesting building.

The court house on the left and the city offices on the right.

When we stopped, the church between the pillars just happened to be there.

The city had a delightful splash park and memorial park.

Then we drove by the city hall again and this strange man was pacing around and around in front. What kind of costume does he have on?

We drove down a street that was a little seedy looking. There were two guys sitting in the corner in front of this store.

Interesting restaurant. Feed your head?

No THIS is some great graffiti!!!
All kinds of stuff.

Many of the restaurants had their waiters out in front.

Murals everywhere.
This must be an artsy town.

We came to the top of a hill and look what we saw.

Back "home" and see who our neighbor is?

Open your window and see what is there. Only this time it was the back window. We are backed up to the French Broad River. (the one that runs through the Biltmore estate)

Thank you for seeing us safely to this point. Tomorrow is the big "Biltmore Day".
