Yates Cider Mill - Sep 21, 2010

Tuesday dawned and the trip to Yates Cider Mill was in progress. Allison was able to join us before she went to work. The Mill has been in continuous operation since 1863. As a teenager, I would make trips here in the fall. It was great to see that had not changed except for the parking lot.

Some of the decor outside the mill.

Connie and Manuel approach.

Allsion and George approach.

Vicki stops to take pictures.

We stopped to have 3 pictures taken. Connie, Vicki and Me. Kinda looks like the sun was bright.

The stones are the original foundation. The bricks are where they rebuilt.

This machine crunches up and squeezes the apples and sends them to the next machine. There are no additives, just apples. It is as yummy as I remember.

They bottle the cider here.

A great little river runs through the property.

The apple cores are run out of the building on a rail and dumped in a container to be picked up by the trash company.
Vicki and Allison check to see if they are making fudge. No luck.

George waits.

The stream runs right into the mill.

They stop to talk. It's really a nice day. Temp is about 82 and all them northerners are complaining about the heat.

I do so not want to leave them here.

Looks like the beginning of a beaver dam.

We went back to Vicki's to wait for Bill to get home. Then off to eat again. The last supper for this trip. Thank you for allowing The Esparzas to share all of these days with us. It was great.
