On our way. We took some back roads to get to the Interstate and went through some neat little towns. Can't remember their names but who cares.

Thought this was a quaint old barn. It was sitting right on the corner of the intersection.

This was nestled around the corner from a stoplight.

Up jumped the animals.

Another neat little town.

They use all the old buildings for different things so as not to tear them down.

There are hundreds of these grain elevators along the way.

It looked like they were digging to China here. Don't know what it is but it reminded me of the copper mines in Utah.

A very welcome sight for us.

Sycamore, IL - Jul 26, 2010

We started out this morning rather late 'cause we were busy being nosy. Our neighbors were all getting ready to leave. Had to see how everyone managed their getaway. We were headed for a Wild Life Museum and passed this gorgeous house. It was the Paper Doll House.

In the front yard of the house above was this beautiful old old tree.

When we got to the museum, it was closed so I took a picture of the theater across the street. I'll show those people at the museum!!!

Well, we decided to find something else to do so we drove to DeKalb, IL to see what the Eygtian Theater was all about. Only open on Thursdays!!!

OK let's find something else. We drove down the streets of DeKalb and saw some interesting buildinga.

These towns are old and have some really pretty buildings.

We had lunch here. Haven't eaten at one of these since I was a kid. (when they were 10 for a dollar)

All right, now we're headed for Ellwood House. A couple of pictures from the main road.

Don't know if this is the groundskeeper house or the mother-in-law house.

You'll notice that we never got pictures on the inside---closed on Monday. We can't decide what this building was used for. I never saw a silo with windows.

We came home and watched the fishermen. Thank you for allowing this.

Sycamore, IL - Day 2 Jul 25, 2010

Remember I told you we were really out in the road? Look how far!!! We were looking directly from the cross road.

Vicki and Theresa...this is for you!! Just the wrong color.

I'm thinkin' that this is the home of the campground owner. I tried to get the back but the sun was shining directly at me. Will try tomorrow.

We decided to take a jaunt around the lake. We were looking back at the campsites from about 1/4 of the way around.

Isn't this the way to spend a peaceful Sunday morning?

Halfway around.

Had to stop to get gas before our trip to Great Lakes Naval Training Center. When we pulled out of the station, this is what we saw.

We thought it was only going to be about 60 or so miles. HA--round trip was 167 miles. Beautiful country though. Look at this high class Walmart. That's only 2/3 of the building.

Out in the middle of nowhere we found Chicago's only Camping World. Did a U-turn and went to the "Candy Store". Thanks, Vic, for buying our new oval bucket and griddle for the new grill. This really was not an RV Sales office, they had moved the supplies over here last week.

There is an absence of pictures. I wasn't suppose to take any at all. George was really happy about seeing all the old buildings and stuff, 50 years after he was here.

This is the parade grounds. Well, they're in front of this building.

That little bit of blue between the trees is Lake Michigan.

Wish I'd been more on the ball, this was a HUGE railroad yard.

We were coming back into Sycamore and they must have had an old car show. Or else people here drive old cars.

This should have been on yesterday's, but I forgot to take them then.

Along the drive to the office.

The camper in front of us must have gone but it sure made for a pretty view.

George and I went out for a walk. This is the swimming area, across the lake.

There are beautiful flowers all over the park.
